Today we journey to one of the most remarkable places on Earth — Lalibela, home to the legendary rock-hewn churches.
After a short flight, we arrive in this small town that holds 11 medieval churches, each carved from a single block of granite in the 12th and 13th centuries. Often called the "Eighth Wonder of the World," these architectural marvels will leave you speechless.
Over the course of two days, you'll explore churches featuring fragile-looking windows of different sizes, various forms of crosses, and captivating wall paintings. The churches are connected by tunnels and walkways carved deep into the rock. The most famous is Bete Giyorgis (Church of St. George) — a perfectly cross-shaped structure carved 40 feet down into the earth, often referred to as the face of Lalibela.
